Holding Each Life Precious

NARAL Attacks Again

Truth reveals Passion for Life found at Pregnancy Help Centers

This week we salute North Carolina lawmakers who have made it easier for residents to make a contribution to pregnancy help centers with the purchase of a Choose Life license plate.  Charitable donations to pregnancy centers are made so that no woman feels so alone, so hopeless, or so coerced that she ends her child’s life through abortion.

Caring people with a passion for life believe that every woman deserves love and support during an unexpected pregnancy so that she can welcome new life.  A pregnancy center is often the first place a woman experiences unconditional love.  Providing a compassionate community response to the needs of medically-underserved women and infants, Heartbeat International’s affiliates are dedicated to maternal health and child well-being.

Meanwhile NARAL, formerly National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, attempts to bash compassion with propaganda. Their “bogus” report, The Truth Revealed: North Carolina’s Crisis Pregnancy Centers, is akin to the tobacco industry shaming the work of smoking cessation groups because they don’t offer smoking rooms.  These fanatical claims are a regurgitation of earlier attempts to malign pregnancy help centers.

Heartbeat International’s affiliate pregnancy centers provide the facts about a baby’s development and about the many serious physical and psychological dangers of abortion. These are the critical facts that each woman needs in order to make an informed decision about the future of her pregnancy and the future of her family. These are the vital facts that abortion facilities often choose to leave out.

If truth be told, providing alternatives to abortion impacts the projected profits of the abortion industry.  NARAL is upset that pregnancy centers do not perform or refer for abortions. According to their definition of truth, this practice of informing women about alternatives is deceptive, when in fact it is the exact reason many women are so grateful for the emotional support and practical help they have found at their local pregnancy center.

For four decades moms have been sharing how they were served by Heartbeat pregnancy centers. Over the past three years, many moms have delivered a clear message to Congress: Pregnancy Help Centers are good for America.

Julianne Fanning“Six years ago my life began unraveling…  I was 22 and had lost my job, which resulted in eviction from my apartment.  To further magnify these desperate events, my aunt, the matriarch of our family, died of breast cancer within hours of me finding out I was pregnant.   Terminating the pregnancy was not my first option, but without resources, I had little hope of carrying to term, let alone raising a child on my own. A relative suggested Pregnancy Care Center.  I went for an appointment and immediately found hope as they gave me emotional support, referred me for medical care, and connected me to other needed resources. Kathy, my mentor, was able to find a maternity home for me until I found permanent housing.”

Julianne Fanning rejected the choice to abort her baby and accepted the help of her local pregnancy center, six years later she brought her son Nikolas to Washington D.C. as part of Heartbeat’s Babies Go to Congress.

Manzaler Lowery: “Abortion is not the answer to an unplanned pregnancy. Keyanu and I are living proof that life is precious and I cry when I think of what my life would be like without him. Had it not been for the women at Robbinsdale Women’s Center who really cared about me, Keyanu would not be here today.”

Andrea Holloway: “I was inspired by the help and hope that Southside Pregnancy Center offered me, and every lady, that walked through their doors.  It was during one of their classes that I began to entertain thoughts of returning to school. I’m so glad I found Southside Pregnancy Center!  I’m so glad I didn’t have an abortion!  My son, Charles Anthony, has brought so much love and joy to my life.  Southside Pregnancy Center inspired me, and it was my son’s birth that actually motivated me to step out and pursue my Master’s Degree as a School Counselor.  I graduate this fall! Southside Pregnancy Center was there for me when others weren’t.  They offered me the help and hope and the resources I needed to gain control and change my future…not only my future, but my baby’s future, too.”
