What would you do?

What would you do if you were told you had to assist with an abortion?
Just in case you missed it, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, in a recent Washington Post interview responding to the issue of healthcare workers right to refuse in abortion and the fact that the Catholic Church is defending it, said: “I’m a devout Catholic and I honor my faith and love it … but they have this conscience thing.” “This conscience thing” is the reason that the majority of Americans do not want their tax dollars spent on abortion. The fact that Obamacare will fund and promote abortion was the main reason pro-abortion leaders like Pelosi rammed it through Congress without reading it. As Christians, but more importantly as human beings, we believe that “Man has the right to act in conscience and in freedom so as personally to make moral decisions. He must not be forced to act contrary to his conscience” (No. 1782, Catechism of the Catholic Church). To be clear, freedom does not mean I have the license to do whatever I want; it means I have the liberty to do what is right. And in this country, we are still holding onto the truth articulated by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence that clearly states we have a God-given right to liberty. If Congress does not move to protect our right to conscience, and the current administration directs us to abandon our moral compass, pregnancy centers may be forced to close rather than assist in an abortion. If Obamacare is not repealed, or significantly amended to protect our right to conscience, pregnancy center leaders may be fined or imprisoned if they do not refer for abortions. Pro-abortion politicians have already attempted to mandate certain speech in our life-saving pregnancy centers. “This conscience thing” is why we believe it is so important to take moms and babies, served by pregnancy centers, to Washington, D.C., so they can tell U.S. lawmakers that they are grateful they had a chance to make the right choice for their children. The Abortion Nondiscrimination Act, (ANDA), HR 361, prohibits tax dollars being used to fund abortion and prohibits federal, state, and local governments from discriminating against health care providers, including hospitals, doctors, and nurses, who refuse to provide, perform, or refer for abortions. Encourage your U.S. Representative to include ANDA in the final version of the Labor/HHS Appropriations bill. The Respect for Rights of Conscience Act of 2011 (H.R. 1179) amends Obamacare (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act). Contact your U.S. Representative today and ask them to support H.R. 1179 by becoming a co-sponsor. Congressional switchboard: 202-224-3121. |

Nurses in New Jersey are being forced to assist in aborting babies, even though they are morally opposed to such a heinous act. One nurse was told that all she had to do was catch the baby’s dead head.
