Heartbeat consultants provide affordable training seminars for
staff, board and/or volunteers of pregnancy help centers, maternity
homes and others in the “helping field.” For example,
we offer training seminars in The Love Approach, the
Sexual Integrity™ Program, and Talking About Abortion
(whether on your hotline or in your center). We also offer Board Trainings, HEART Trainings, and
Center Assessments, which was created to provide a comprehensive
review of individual center operations, management and governance.

Board Training - this one-day training offers Boards at any stage of development an in-depth discussion of Leadership; Mission & Purpose; Legal Obligations; Planning; Implementation; Board Function/Development; Finances & Development; Policies; and Evaluations. The Board will gain an understanding of their role in relationship to the executive director, staff, community, and each other. The Board training is designed to address your specific needs, including training for those considering the Option Ultrasound™ Program, (OUP). Center Assessment – this two-day assessment was designed to give the executive director, key staff, and Board, a comprehensive review of the center’s individual operations, management, and governance. It is customized to address your unique needs, opportunities, and issues. Prior to the on-site assessment, the consultant looks at important center documents that will assist them in gaining a better understanding of your needs and strengths. H.E.A.R.T. Training - “Healing the Effects of Abortion-Related Trauma” is a one-day training that will equip individuals in pregnancy resource centers, counseling agencies, or churches to effectively minister to those hurting from a past abortion/s. The consultant will address post-abortion stress in both men and women, tasks to healing, how to screen individuals interested in the program and go over the user friendly Leadership and Participant Manuals. LOVE Approach Training - this one-day training offers the basics in peer counseling, with emphasis on relationship building and listening skills. Topics include: Listen & Learn, Open Options, Vision & Value, Extend & Empower . The training is interactive and gives the participants opportunity to put into practice what they have learned. Strategic Planning/Long-Range Planning - This one day consultation will assist your leadership to look three to five years into the future and answer the question, “What should this organization be accomplishing three to five years from now, and what should the organization look like?” Strategic planning includes some of the following: situation analysis, direction setting, refining and adopting the plan, and implementing the plan. Talking About Abortion Training - this one-day training was developed from the experiences of several Heartbeat affiliates. The consultant will teach a helpline/phone model for sharing information on abortion that can also be used in an office setting. You will learn how to use the Ten Point Health and Safety Checklist, and the talking points on RU-486 and the “morning after pill.” The training also includes updated information on abortion methods and includes further studies that have examined the physical and emotional effects of abortion on women.
