Heartbeat International Calls for De-Funding Planned Parenthood

Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri to appear in court Nov. 16 for investigation of late-term abortions practices.

Heartbeat International and about 60 other pro-life organizations (including Women Influencing the Nation)are asking the U.S. House and Senate to suspend Planned Parenthood funding following a 107-count indictment against the group's Kansas affiliate last week.

Taxpayers should not have to fund an organization that allegedly performs late-term abortions.

Taxpayers' money should not be used for illegal abortion in the U.S. or anywhere else around the world. Criminal charges already filed against Planned Parenthood in Kansas allege that this non-profit organization was performing illegal late-term abortions by ignoring viability testing laws and regulations and by unlawfully falsifying documents in order to conceal and cover-up those facts. Planned Parenthood also allegedly failed to follow medical and other reporting guidelines required by law in order to perform late-term abortions, again covering up their illegal activities and demonstrating a complete disregard for the law.

Planned Parenthood is charged with performing illegal late-term abortions by ignoring viability testing laws and regulations, as well as falsifying documents to cover up those facts.

National grassroots organizations have urged Congress to put a freeze on all federal funding for Planned Parenthood until these charges are sorted out. Congress should not provide a single dime of taxpayer money to any organization that breaks the law – and especially one that allegedly performs illegal, late-term abortion. Congress provides over $300 million every year to Planned Parenthood. Between 2001 and 2005, Planned Parenthood’s revenues from “government grants and contracts” exceeded $1.2 billion!
