Heartbeat of Miami Wins First-Ever Bella Hero Award
Heartbeat International President Peggy Hartshorn delivered the keynote address at the recent Heartbeat of Miami (HOM) fundraising banquet. While there, she had the privilege of honoring the HOM staff with the Bella Hero Award, the first of its kind.
“When a woman considering abortion walks in to the Heartbeat of Miami Pregnancy Help Center she receives the unconditional love of Jesus Christ, heartfelt compassion, a Bella gift bag, and the hope she need to choose life,” said Heartbeat President Peggy Hartshorn, Ph.D. “
Congratulations on the success of your life-saving ministry.”
HOM is one of the original centers to participate in this unique program designed to save lives by sharing the story of a baby named Bella, whose mother considered abortion.
The 2008 film, Bella (winner of the Toronto Film Festival People’s Choice Award) has the awesome ability to affirm life because of the way it contrasts the value of life between a wanted child and an unwanted pregnancy. Many babies have been saved from abortion after their mothers saw Bella. Because of its powerful influence, Jason Jones one of the producers of Bella, founded Bella HERO, a program which provides Bella DVDs to pregnancy care centers across the country to use as a powerful tool in the counseling room.
HOM staff developed a very personalized approach. They give a gift bag to the pregnant woman considering abortion. The gift bag contains a Bella DVD, a bag of fresh popcorn, and candy. HOM has saved 10 babies so far with this method, the most Bella Hero babies.
There are over 100 pregnancy care centers actively participating in the Bella Hero program, and to date, 37 babies are confirmed Bella HERO babies.
