I am Peggy Hartshorn. I am the President of Heartbeat International. But even more importantly, I was the one who spoke with Alicia when she came in to Pregnancy Decision Health Centers here in Columbus, Ohio for help after being connected by our Option Line® call center.
I remember talking with Alicia for a long time. She poured her heart out to me. She said she was sure she was pregnant ... but she was afraid.
I listened. For well over an hour I listened. Finally, when she’d talked herself out, I offered to pray with Alicia and she happily agreed. I encouraged her to come back to our medical clinic for an ultrasound so she would know for certain whether or not she was pregnant. Then we would talk some more. Alicia agreed.
Several months later Alicia gave birth to her daughter, Alexis Jean. And a short time ago, during a follow-up meeting with Alicia, I held little Alexis in my arms. I cannot express the emotion I felt when Alicia said to me, “Thank you for all you did for me. My daughter is the light of my life!”
And although Alicia was talking to me, in truth she was thanking all the caring individuals who made it possible for an Option Line® consultant to receive her call for help and guide her to people who would show her how she could give life to her little baby.
