"Rescue" is the primary work of Heartbeat International. RESCUE supports, teaches, trains, encourages, strengthens and grows nearly 1,100 pregnancy centers in America and internationally. I am Peggy Hartshorn and I want to tell you what your support for Heartbeat International means...

For babies all over the world - and specifically in Idaho - it means the difference between life and death. How do I know? Because not long ago I received a message from Debbie Monniere, the Director of Hope Pregnancy Center, a Heartbeat affiliate in Grangeville, Idaho. Debbie wrote to say she was ready to quit and her center was on the verge of bankruptcy.

But something happened...a "miracle," if you will. Here's Debbie's note:

"I want to thank Heartbeat for your great Spring conference. I was on the verge of turning in my resignation as the Director of Hope Pregnancy Center in Grangeville, Idaho before I attended your conference. I was burned out and unsure of where the center was going. The center is only two-years old and in a very rural part of Idaho, yet serves the largest county in Idaho. I have been told for two years that we would get no clients and we were wasting our time. We were down to only $700 in our checking account when I flew to Chicago. A few weeks ago we held a successful fundraiser. We currently have 15 pregnant clients and our Board approved our budget...God has restored my vision for this ministry due in part to the ministry portion of the conference, which I needed so badly."

Thanks to support from Heartbeat...Hope Pregnancy Center is still OPEN, meeting the needs of desperate mothers, and saving the lives of their precious babies! Today I need your help so Heartbeat can continue to provide our affiliates with the hope and inspiration they need to carry on their work to save mothers and babies.

Thanks to dear friends like you, Heartbeat is able to play a major roll in giving the individuals who operate life-saving pregnancy resource centers the inspiration and support they need to stay on the frontlines of our fight against abortion. But your dollars enable Heartbeat to provide far more than hope and inspiration.

Heartbeat's cutting-edge training seminars, teaching manuals and resource materials form the foundation upon which hundreds of pregnancy resource centers are built and operated. To show you just how valuable these resources are here's a note I received from Rita Leone-Reyes, Director of Choices of the Heart Pregnancy Resource Center in Turnersville, New Jersey.

"I attended Heartbeat's Directors' Training almost ten years ago and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to start a center. Heartbeat's 'Talking About Abortion' was the first resource you gave me. This manual has turned out to be the most important tool I use to save lives. Without the tools that Heartbeat International has provided, our pregnancy center would not have grown to the level we are today...Heartbeat has continued to provide everything we need."

Again, though, in reality, it isn't Heartbeat that's providing those life-saving tools...it's our loving family of generous benefactors. And you'll see just how important your financial support is when you read the letter Tom Clark sent me not long ago. Tom is the Executive Director of Crisis Pregnancy Center of the Roanoke Valley, another Heartbeat affiliate. I encourage you to read Tom's entire letter because it offers you a clearer understanding of all that you help Heartbeat do for our affiliates...which number 841 here in the U.S. and another 148 in Canada and overseas...almost 1,000 in all!

But although it is the directors and staff of our affiliates who are the immediate beneficiaries of your contributions, they are not the ones your dollars impact the most. The individuals your sacrificial gifts help most are the people our affiliates minister to...namely, desperate mothers and their innocent babies. Which is why I'm stressing the important role you play in Heartbeat's work. Were it not for you and Heartbeat, many of our affiliates-like Debbie at the Hope Pregnancy Center in Idaho-would not be in business today. And without them, abortion-vulnerable women would have no one to turn to for hope and help.

That's why I'm asking you to make a contribution to Heartbeat. Not for me. And not for Heartbeat. And not even for the directors of our affiliates...but rather for the mothers and babies whose lives you help Heartbeat save! For their sakes I ask you to be as generous as you possibly can at this time.

Every day here in America, thousands of defenseless babies are in danger of being killed by abortion. Oftentimes the only thing standing between them and certain death is a Heartbeat affiliate! Heartbeat and our affiliates save 2,000 babies a week! That's an achievement you can be proud of.

But it takes a lot of money to provide our affiliates with the services they need to save babies from abortionists. And right now, the fees we charge our affiliates pay only about 25% of what it costs Heartbeat to provide them. Co-laborers like you make up the difference.

I have made it a policy to keep our affiliate fees low because the vast majority of pregnancy centers have barely enough money to pay their rent and utility bills. In order to help them stay open and available for mothers and babies in need, Heartbeat charges them a very low amount to receive our services.

As a result, I must turn to you and other friends to help Heartbeat to pay the high cost of providing our affiliates with the resources they need to save the lives of innocent babies. For example:

Your dollars help Heartbeat provide those services. And, in turn, our affiliates use the resources and materials we give them to save the lives of innocent babies...and in almost every case, the lives of their mothers, too. So one final time I ask you to be as generous as you possibly can today.
