Six abortions, 25 years, and God's plan...

I am 51 years old.  Over 25 years ago at the age of 17; and after the birth of my 1st child, I chose abortion as a means of birth control.   Abortion was conveniently listed among other methods of birth control; i.e., the "Pill", IUD, condoms, etc.

I had little knowledge of abortion or the harsh ramifications it could and ultimately would bring to my life.  I had no idea that 25 years and six abortions later, I would suffer an emotional breakdown because of my ignorance.

I began experiencing symptoms of separation and distance from my wonderful husband and four children.  I had no idea that I was experiencing guilt and shame due to the abortions.  Along with the guilt and shame came self-hatred and the resulting, isolation.

Eight years ago, I was invited to a fundraising dinner for a pregnancy care center. I heard a testimony describing the effects of abortion. However, I did not acknowledge how this affected my life.

A few years after the fundraising event and at the age of 45, I found myself signing up to volunteer at the pregnancy center in our area.  While going through the volunteer training process

I read a brochure explaining the effects of abortion.

Reading the brochure was painful as it listed all the symptoms of post abortion stress.  The symptoms were everything I had been experiencing such as depression, anxiety, migraine headaches, insomnia, backaches, self-hatred and isolation.  This condition is also known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

I joined a group that dealt with the side effects of abortion and during one particular session I was healed: physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally in one night.  Today, the remainder of the recovery process is still ongoing as the hurt of abortion continues.  The choice of abortion hurts still, all these years later…

As a result of the great progress in my life, I began to meet with and help, other women suffering with the same symptoms.  I also began talking to and helping pregnant teens who were contemplating abortion to end their pregnancies.

This work became so common that I opened an office in order to offer a place for these women to comfortably sit and share their stories in complete confidentiality.  It was then that A Women’s Care Center in Chino was born!

We have had the privilege of seeing numerous babies’ lives spared, and we continue to help women and men who have been affected by their choices of abortion.
