This course will focus on images to examine, critique, and summarize. The images will assist in sharpening skills. The session will also highlight interesting findings from the pregnancy medical clinic setting.

This course offers continuing education contact hours for nurses. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provder Number CEP 16061 for 1.25 contact hours.

Connie Ambrecht has taught sonography for 15 + years, with a focus on teaching RN’s, NP’s and MD’s in the past 12 years. During that time she has experienced working with a variety of team members bearing different professional credentials as well as lay personnel. This clinical situation brings a unique atmosphere as each team member works to serve the patient within their area of expertise combined with the other team members experience and strengths.

    a. Explain steps to use to develop good methodology in scanning routine:
        1. Is what I see on the image displayed clearly enough that my physician can diagnose with confidence?
         2. If I have to pull this scan in 1 month, 6 months a year, will I have any areas that I would feel were unclear or non-diagnostic?
         3. Does this image build my case for my summary or ultrasound report?
3. Identify key factors related to image optimization and patient outcomes.
    a. Develop a method for stating preliminary findings, documenting patients next step, and confirm patient understands what is next
    b. Determine if nursing diagnosis and preliminary Sonographic findings protect the
